JOY is an ecumenical Christian charity run by a small dedicated staff in our office and warehouse in Windhill Shipley, and is totally voluntary. We offer advice to other groups and liase with many other charities in the same field.

Our funds are raised in several ways. We have two charity shops in Bingley and Shipley; enthusiastically run by committed volunteers, who not only sort and sell, but receive donations in goods or cash, promote the charity and act as a listening ear to many lonely folk who drop in for a chat. Many of our supporters run fund raising events from market stalls, sponsored walks, dances etc.

The rest of our funds comes as donations from churches individuals and businesses. We have two faithful Mercedes 709s that take working teams out 4 or five times a year, and a small 307 that does most of our local collections of goods for the shop (it's a bonus when people can deliver) and medical supplies and equipment for abroad.

Our work and commitment is to Romania where we have several ongoing projects and a commitment to helping many sick and needy people, and we send 8 to 10 lorry loads a year; but we send any surplus goods to a wide variety of countries through other charities.

We are available to give illustrated talks within a reasonable radius!
